What the SHACMAN Electric Tractor 6×4 is built for
The SHACMAN Electric Tractor 6×4 is a battery-electric tractor rated for a gross combination weight of 49 – 70 t (108,000 – 154,300 lb), above the usual 40 – 44 t of a standard combination: longer and heavier vehicle combinations, timber, bulk and construction haulage where the law allows them.
Its rated weight is above the median of 48 t across the 16 electric semi trucks with a stated gross combination weight in our database.
Battery and charging
The SHACMAN Electric Tractor 6×4 is offered with 310.7 – 600.9 kWh (6 sizes) batteries of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, close to the median of 563 kWh across the 25 electric semi trucks in our database. LFP cells hold less energy for their weight than nickel-based ones, but last more charge cycles and tolerate heat and fast charging well, which is why most heavy electric trucks now use them.
It charges by DC fast charging and battery swapping, where a swap station exchanges the depleted pack for a charged one in about five minutes. Swapping keeps a truck working around the clock and is widespread on Chinese freight corridors, mines and construction sites, where swap stations serve whole fleets.
Power and drive
Its electric drive delivers 270 kW continuously and 410 kW at peak (550 hp); its peak power is below the median of 480 kW across the 26 electric semi trucks in our database.
Drivetrain: tZ400XS033 motor, drum drive axle (ratio 5.286), 6×4 drive.
