Battery and charging
The DAF XF Electric is offered with 210 – 525 kWh (4 sizes) batteries of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, close to the median of 563 kWh across the 25 electric semi trucks in our database. LFP cells hold less energy for their weight than nickel-based ones, but last more charge cycles and tolerate heat and fast charging well, which is why most heavy electric trucks now use them.
It charges by DC fast charging (150 kW or 325 kW DC, 22 kW AC optional).
Power and drive
Its electric drive delivers 170 – 350 kW continuously; its peak power is below the median of 480 kW across the 26 electric semi trucks in our database.
Drivetrain: pACCAR EX-D1 or EX-D2 with integrated powershift transmission, 4×2 or 6×2 tractor; 4×2, 6×2, 6×4 or 8×4 rigid drive.
